It's Saturday evening. I just got home. I went home with my girlfriends, just us. Boyfriends were busy practicing for their capping and pinning (nursing) so we went home without them. On our way home, we pass by the plaza, in front of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral. A while ago, there was a dirty ice cream being sold there. We bought some, and it was actually delicious. Cheese and cookie flavors were the ones available. There were real cheese bits and choco bits. ..and it only costs ten pesos. Cool! Christmas lights were around town, fireworks every night, bands playing, music by the plaza. The feel was actually nice, and I could sense Christmas coming near. I'm enjoying the Filipino culture. =)

The Christmas Feel

After the exams in school, we went to Kim's house to make our mini solar boat (for the solar boat race on January 30). In the mechanics of the boat race, we are required to have a boat made up of recycled materials (and they gave us a list of the materials that they only approve). When we arrived there, we did not start at once. We first bought Cali in can and of course, use the can for the boat after we drink the content. We were instructed not to open the can with its opener at its top part because it will bore a huge hole and if that happens, we will have a hard time covering the hole since we have to use the can for the boat. We tried to bore a small hole at its side with a knife. Of course, doing that, the Cali squirted out of the can.. and of course, I got too wet (and I was not wearing an apron at that time.. yet.). Still, I had fun. Afterwards, we transferred the liquid to glasses. While waiting for the Cali to be all transferred up, we bought pizza (my favorite!!). After eating and drinking up the Cali, we started doing business. Kim's dad helped us a lot with our boat. He gave us instructions regarding the voltmeter, buoyancy, circuits, and stuff. It took us some time to finish the boat and we are planning to finish making the circuit this week.

Wretched

At times we tend to bend where the wind blows and at times we really do not know how will we ever bend if the wind is coming from both opposite directions. We get baffled to what side we're going to bend to, to get off the risks, to be on the safe track. We're just like bamboo grasses, but our difference is that we have free will and we are able to distinguish the different angles and points of our lives. At some point if we try to bend with the strongest that influence us because of certain reasons that might be doubt for example or reasons we are made to believe that is rather false to what is true; and that because of that wrong bend we break from our roots and there everything ends for us. At other times we came to realize what the truth really is and that we take the right bend or decision. And that by the wind is over we're more stronger on about facing storms because we have bended right we get even more rightly flexible: Taking a more wiser step.
Let us not just think twice on occurances that we encounter, and that when the road gets rough we should too get to think we need to get tough, let us not just think twice upon difficult circumstances but let us think trice upon making a decision or going say any matter to be conceived.
I hope what is happening today serves as a lesson for what might come tomorrow.

One Parable of the Bamboo

This morning, in school; we were supposed to have our wine making activity. I was supposed to bring empty wine bottles. So last night, I asked my dad to give me empty colored wine bottles. So he did, give me colored wine bottles; but he didn't notice that one of them wasn't empty. The bottle (...of Rare J&B Scotch Whisky) was still about one-fourth filled.

I went to school, then blah3x... During recess time, in order not to waste such a drink, "we" dared (?) to drink it. At first, there was me and the girl in front of my seat who tasted it. Err... we didn't take much. Then there was a boy behind me, he asked for some so I gave him. He drank much then I asked him to stop. Afterwards, I asked one of my girlfriends if she would want some. So she did, tried some. After drinking, she just said, "Blahk!" Then after a few moments, I asked one of my girlfriends who drink occasionally, to have some. Thinking that it was just wine, she drank "a lot" that she almost emptied the bottle. By the time she was finished, that's the time that she realized that it wasn't "just wine." Having a late reaction, She shouted, "Shet Aspuria! Anlakas ng tama!" "(Shit Aspuria! That's strong stuff!)" LOL... Still, after she said those words, I asked her, "So, how was it?" She just replied with a smile and a thumbs up. :)

Before starting our activity, I noticed that there were still a few more left in the bottle. So I just gave the bottle to one of my classmates and he drank it all up.

Activity in Microbiology: Wine Making (Photos) :)

Extracting "Stuff" from Mangoes...

Heating (but not boiling) the Extracted Juice from the Mangoes w/ Brown Sugar

Sterilizing the Wine Bottles with the Use of an Autoclave

Adding of Yeast (*Other Group's Bottle since Ours was Colored)

The Worst Part (Mango Stuff on my Sleeves)

Well I must say, I had fun making wine... I just didn't like the part wherein I had mango on my sleeves -- since I just wore an apron (The Lab. gown was hot to wear...)
