Since I was at the solar boat race, I was just relying on the text messages sent to me by most people. They said that last night, they had a conference and they planned to persuade the parents.

And so, parents came to school.. blah3x. They, together with the teachers had a meeting with the guy. As far as I was informed, the seniors were depived to go near the meeting. The meeting ended up with the guy saying sorry and stuff. As for now, I don't know the next things that are happening and are going to happen.

Seniors Protest Day 3

And so, we went there.. and lost. No worries. I had fun not to mention that... haha!! secret!! The boat race sucked anyway. There was a school who even cheated. They won the first round of the race so fast that everyone doubted the results. Why? It was cloudy at that time and the other boats were not working. Not to mention that the solar panels of the winning school was placed upside down (not facing the sun--it was facing towards the ground). The committee inspected the boat, and they found out that there were hidden batteries in it. It was a chinese school.

The host was Don Bosco Technical College and the winners were also from DBTC. All the other school ended up with side comments that you guys would probably know already.

And oh yeah, us being the only girl group, the hosts from Don Bosco told us that eventhough we did not win, we were still the winner in their hearts. (Lakas mambola!!!) Then they were asking for our contact numbers. We did not give them.

Mini Solar Boat - The Race

As usual, because of the solar boat, I was not in school. I was at the pool. The seniors had a signature campaign wherein most seniors signed something against the person... I think. In the afternoon, when my team got back, the fourth year students were not at the second floor. The staff in school were telling us to go straight to the AVR. We went there and found the students and some teachers having a forum with the certain person.

The conference ended up when everyone walked out of the room because they were pissed off.

Seniors Protest Day 2

After testing the panels in school, my team went back to our building. At that time, when we reached the second floor, there were seniors who were cursing and making noise. Let's just say that someone in our school, who is of high rank, cancelled something. After a few minutes, the news was heard at the other sections and the whole fourth year level went furious. Most sections made their section's chairs upside down and filled their blackboard with curses. The fourth year students planned to go on strike by not going to school the following days and by planning to make/do something.

By dismissal time, the students (4th year) did not go home right away. Most stayed at the school grounds. The student prefect was trying to make us leave the campus but he was not able to do so. The students were still furious. By that time, the only thing that some school staff could do was to take videos of what we were doing and what we did.

The thing that happened made the students furious but that does not mean that the seniors got mad just because of one incident. It was just something that triggered the "hatred" that the seniors were keeping inside their hearts.

After leaving the quadrangle, the seniors had a meeting at the ampitheatre. The meeting was not finished well but the meeting continued at the conference in yahoo! messenger.

The students ended up with a plan to go to school and talk to the principal about their complaints.

After leaving the ampitheathre, we went to Nikki's house to cool down. We ate there, played darts, etc.. When I got there, her room changed. Everything was in pink!! Outside, you'll see a pink door with hello kitty on it. When you enter, you will see things in pink! Normal girls would probably like it. As for me, I love black!!!

Seniors Protest Day 1

Recipe for Handling a Critic

Ingredients:
4 cloves of garlic, 1 small cross, and 1 bag of fresh parsley

Eat the four cloves of garlic. Hold the small cross directly in front of the critic and say, "Look what I just made. Do you like it?" The critic will be unable to move until he has pointed out the flaws in your design. Breathe normally until you hear the thud if the critic's skull against the floor. Eat the bag of parsley to hide the murder weapon.

Depending on your ethical preferences, that method might not be acceptable to you. For example, some people are morally opposed to eating parsley. If you're one of them, you'll need other strategies. But first you must identify what sort of critic you are dealing with. Critics fall into these four categories:

Types of Critics
  1. People who reflexively criticize any idea (contrarians)
  2. People who enjoy making you suffer (sadists)
  3. People who are angry for no good reason (nuts)
  4. People with valid criticisms (bastards)

Contrarian Critics

They are the easiest types of critics to deal with. They're motivated by an obsessive need to demonstrate their brilliance at your expense. For the contrarian, there is no such thing as a good idea that comes from someone else. If you say puppies are fun, he'll will say that puppies eat your slippers. If you say sunny days make you feel good, he'll say the sun gives you wrinkles.

Fortunately for you, the contrarian's predictability is his downfall.

Sadistic Critics

Sadistic Critics are the hardest to deal with, especially at work, because you can't escape them. There's no point in reasoning with sadists because they're only in it for the pleasure of making you feel bad. If you show any weakness, it will only encourage them to do it again. That's why I recommend that you respond to the critic using a strategy that resembles demonic possession. Start by asking yourself, What would Satan do in this situation? Then go with it. If you can spin your head around and spew vomit, that will make a lasting impression on anyone else who was thinking of taking a run at you. The goal is to train al the sadists in your office so that they focus their evil somewhere else.

Sadist:
Your idea is ill-conceived and doomed.

You:
You short-sighted, pompous bag of monkey crap. Your breath smells like the rotting flesh of a thousand corpses!! I'll dance on your grave when my brilliant idea makes billions of dollars! BUWAHHAHAHA!!!

If the sadist complains about your verbal assault, look surprised and say, "Oh... I thought that's what we were doing." Obviously the demonic-possession strategy can have no productive business outcome. But it might make you feel better, and that is its own reward.

People who are Angry for No Good Reason

When you create anything--especially humor--there is a good chance that people will get angry for no good reason. When people get mad for no reason, you will be branded "insensitive."

Valid Criticism

The worst kind of criticism is the kind that is valid. If you are the recipient of valid criticisms you will lose the love and respect that you have worked so hard to earn. Fortunately, you can make up the gap by using trickery to gain additional love and respect that you don't deserve.

Handling Criticism

Well, this is quite long and it is in Filipino...

Hope you'll read it. It's not nonsense... you'll find out what the letter really means in the end.

Minsan may isang puta
Author : Mike Portes

May datung pa!
P*** ng I**!
Yung iba nag-US, Europe.

May nanghihinayang, namumuhi at naaawa.

Tama man o mali. May malasakit man, nahihilaw.

Gusto kong isigaw:

"INA NINYO AKO! MAHALIN NYO NAMAN AKO!"

Sige, dumadrama na ako. Masisira na ang make up ko nito eh. Salamat ha, pinakinggan mo ako.

Ay sorry, di ko nasabi pangalan ko.

Pilipinas nga pala.

Letter from a Whore? No.. Something More...

I just found this in our gothic forum... it was from Rhoniel and it is quite interesting though only Rizal himself seems to know if it's true..:

An article from the Philippine Daily Inquirer records some Philippine urban legends: the "White Lady" of Balete Drive, Robina Gokongwei's "snake twin" lurking in department store dressing rooms, the elusive "kapre" that lives in an ancient mango tree near the Emilio Aguinaldo house in Kawit town, and Andres Bonifacio's love child from a place aptly named Libog (now Santo Domingo) in Albay province. None of those mean much to me. But most of the article is devoted to discussing two other Philippine legends that are of more general interest. The first one is that Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines, "was the father of Adolf Hitler, the result of an indiscretion with a prostitute in Vienna." The second one is that Jose Rizal was also Jack the Ripper:
Rizal was in London from May 1888 to January 1889, in the British Library copying "Sucesos de las islas Filipinas" by hand because there were no photocopying machines at the time. Jack the Ripper was active around this time, and since we do not know what Rizal did at night or on the days he was not in the library, some people would like to believe Rizal is suspect. They argue that when Rizal left London, the Ripper murders stopped. They say that Jack the Ripper must have had some medical training, based on the way his victims were mutilated. Rizal, of course, was a doctor. Jack the Ripper liked women, and so did our own Rizal. And -- this is so obvious that many overlooked it -- Jose Rizal's initials match those of Jack the Ripper!

Rumor on Rizal

In celebration of Bonifacio Day (Andres Bonifacio -- a Filipino hero), some people exploit the holiday to have such rallies..

On the way to Quiapo Church, I just found people having a rally ('coz they don't want Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to be the President anymore..) in front of the Malacañang Palace (Philippines)

Of course, these people have their reasons, and these are too many to tell.

Bonifacio Day ?

Hmm.. Marikina City is just near from my place. I might want to go there and check it out but I have no time... I'm always busy. *Sigh*

Here's the article:

Robots take over Marikina, but only for Christmas

By Kristine L. Alave
Inquirer
Last updated 10:02pm (Mla time) 11/17/2007

MANILA, Philippines--ROBOTS HAVE INVADED Marikina City.

But residents need not be alarmed because the silver-gray steel figures which can be found in the streets and in public parks are not out to take over the city.

Instead, they are there to spread Christmas cheer and to remind Marikina denizens of how far the city has come in the past years.

Every year, the city government comes up with a theme for the holiday decorations it puts up all over the city.

This year’s theme is “Transformers,” based on the movie of the same title about a gang of robots.

Weird-looking, multi-limbed creatures are not exactly a traditional décor for the holidays but Ronald Ramido of the Marikina public information office said the theme is of particular significance to the city.

According to Ramido, the activity is a tribute to the local officials—past and present—who helped transform Marikina into what it is today, a competitive city from a once backyard municipality.

Among these officials are the incumbent Mayor Marides Fernando, her husband, former mayor and now Metropolitan Manila Development Chair Bayani Fernando and Vice Mayor Marion Andres.

So far, the robots have been a hit among residents. In front of the city hall where several are on display, parents take photos of their children with the robots in the background. Some of the kids gleefully run around the “creatures.”

Nestor Nierva, the officer in charge of the city’s steel fabrication department which was in charge of building the robots, said some of their creations were patterned after those in popular television shows, although most of the pieces were designed by the welders themselves.

“At first, I would scrutinize their work. But later on, the workers became very good at it,” he said. “The welding hurts the eyes, but it’s worth it because we get to use our imagination, to be creative,” he added.

The official said they got their ideas from anime shows like “Gundam” and “Voltes V.” The Gundam-inspired robot, he said, was one of the biggest and popular pieces they made.

Dave David, an employee at the warehouse, said they also visited art websites on the Internet to get an idea of how to construct sculptural pieces from scrap metal.

While other cities shelled out money for fancy decorations and expensive Tivoli lights to adorn their streets and public spaces, Marikina City decided to recycle some of its resources in line with its image as an environment-friendly city.

Before the project started, the city government’s automotive warehouse in Barangay Sto. Niño was bursting with rusty scraps and defective metal parts from machines and vehicles, David said.

Since the workers at the engineering department started to assemble the robots last month, the floor-to-ceiling racks in the warehouse which used to be full of scrap metal have been almost cleaned out, he added.

According to Nierva, they were told to make about 100 steel robots for the Christmas festival. But since the metal parts have almost run out, he said they might end up with just 50.

The robots vary in size and shape. The tallest they have made so far is 10 feet while the smallest is only a foot tall. Almost all of their creations are made from discarded metal and plastic parts which are later painted in metallic gray.

The “Carabot” robot, a futuristic carabao installed on a dais in front of the city hall, was made from discarded car and motorcycle parts. It signifies the hardworking and diligent character of Marikina City residents, the PIO said.

Another popular piece has Spiderman for its inspiration: An android hanging from a web in a tree. Another “creature” still being assembled in the warehouse has curved metal tubes for limbs and a metal ball for its head.

After the holidays, the robots will be collected and transferred to the city parks and greenbelts for the public’s enjoyment, Nierva said.

Apart from the nontraditional Christmas décor, the city government of Marikina is also celebrating the season by opening a tiangge (flea market).

According to the PIO, the city is hosting a market of 700 stalls next week that would be open from 4 p.m. until midnight to give residents a chance to shop for good buys during the holidays.

Robots Take Over Marikina -- A Review

My classmate and I were reading a newspaper in school this morning as well as preparing for our debate on Monday. As we were reading, my classmate showed an article to me that seemed interesting (?). We even shared it to our adviser and our adviser reacted almost the same way as we did...

P.S. I really agree with the title. haha...

Die and you’ll be arrested! Britain’s most stupid laws
Agence France-Presse

LONDON -- Queen Elizabeth II’s speech before Parliament on Tuesday may have been routine but at least nobody got bored to death. That would have been against the law.

Dying in Parliament is an offense and is also by far the most absurd law in Britain, according to a survey of nearly 4,000 people by a television channel showing a legal drama series.

And although the lords were clad in their red and white ermine cloaks and ambassadors from around the world were garbed in colorful national costumes, at least nobody turned up in a suit of armor. That would have been illegal.

Other rules deemed utterly stupid included one that permits a pregnant woman to urinate in a policeman’s hat and murdering bow-and-arrow-carrying Scotsmen within the city walls of York in northern England.

A law stating that in Liverpool, only a clerk in a tropical fish store is allowed to be publicly topless, was also ridiculous, according to a poll of 3,931 people for UKTV Gold television.

Nearly half of those surveyed admitted to breaking the ban on eating mince pies on Christmas Day, which dates back to the 17th century and was originally designed to outlaw gluttony during the rule of the Puritan ruler Oliver Cromwell.

The “stupid” laws and other regulations were culled from published research into ancient legislation that has never been repealed although subsequent statutes have rendered them obsolete.

Respondents were given a short list and asked to vote. Voted the 10 most ridiculous British laws are:

1. It is illegal to die in the Houses of Parliament (27 percent).

2. It is an act of treason to place a postage stamp bearing the British monarch upside-down (7 percent).

3. In Liverpool, it is illegal for a woman to be topless except as a clerk in a tropical fish store (6 percent).

4. Mince pies cannot be eaten on Christmas Day (5 percent).

5. In Scotland, if someone knocks on your door and requires the use of your toilet, you must let them enter (4 percent).

6. A pregnant woman can legally relieve herself anywhere she wants, including in a policeman’s helmet (4 percent).

7. The head of any dead whale found on the British coast automatically becomes the property of the king, and the tail of the queen (3.5 percent).

8. It is illegal to avoid telling the taxman anything you do not want him to know, but legal not to tell him information you do not mind him knowing (3 percent).

9. It is illegal to enter the Houses of Parliament in a suit of armor (3 percent).

10. In the city of York, it is legal to murder a Scotsman within the ancient city walls, but only if he is carrying a bow and arrow (2 percent).
